making rooms {butterfly accent wall}

September 14, 2013

Last week I shared some progress on my daughter’s room, specifically the gallery wall that I finished up with a pretty framed print I made (available for free here).  This room has definitely been worked wall by wall.  Here is another portion that is finished as of yesterday.

Originally, the paper butterflies were strung onto a garland, inspired by this party posted by Rachel Vos here.

It was supposed to be a part of the Butterfly Picnic I did back in May, but it was so windy that it just wasn’t going to work.  So I held onto it.  I had remembered seeing these pretty paper butterflies scattered onto a wall, looking like they were in flight, in SimplyChicLily’s Etsy Shop.

I thought that it would be a perfect touch to Miss Moira’s girly bedroom.  Now it is finally a done deal.

I used these Reusable Mounting Tabs by Scotch.  They are great.  I had to move the butterflies around a bit and they went on and off nicely, without pulling paint off.  Bonus!

Moira is going to flip when she sees her butterfly accent wall!  It is so girly. Perfect!

    I love butterflies! And I’ve cut those reusable mounting squares to make them smaller and they still hold fairly well. Looks fantastic!

      Thank you. I also had to cut. These things are great. Really wish I had them in college instead of that blue sticky stuff…that was horrible!

    Oh, I love all the different kinds of the butterflies! Did you use a template for them? Or a punch?

      I downloaded some paid for (on etsy) and free butterfly svg files for die cutting machines. Easy peezy…
