I am sharing another wrapping idea with you today…but not just any wrap idea. Today’s tutorial does double duty. First off, we have a pretty and festive painted towel. Then we use that towel to wrap up a bottle of wine for a neighbor or hostess gift.
You’ll need a flour sack towel, 3 shades of green paint, red paint, a pencil with an intact eraser, a paper cup, and some sort of tray for your paint. You might also consider some freezer paper…
By ironing on some freezer paper to the reverse side of your fabric, you stabilize it so it doesn’t slide around, crease, or otherwise move as you are painting. You’re welcome!
Now, dip your cup in the paint…
…And make your first circle.
Repeat until you get your wreath effect. I did 2 of each color, slightly offset to get my look.
Once dry, use your pencil eraser dipped in red paint to add the berries.
Your towel is done! Of course you can gift it as is, add it to a basket of goodies, or wrap a loaf of fresh bread in it. Or keep it for yourself! Me, I wrapped mine around a bottle of wine to gift.
Unfold your towel with the painted side face down, away from you. Put your bottle in the middle and fold the towel in half over it.
Fold one end over snuggly, roll it up, and secure with lots of twine and your gift tag.
