glitter party hat {diy}

December 28, 2013

Are you making your New Year’s Eve preparations yet?  Once upon a time I would plan an evening full of food and drink, and loud music and dancing.  After children, my evening still consist of food and drink, just a little less.  And as for the music and dancing, well there will always be some I suppose.

This year, we will be arriving back home on New Year’s Eve, so my plans and preparations for a very low key celebration needed to be made in advance.  For a little fun and festivity to  be had with the kids, I made some shiny, glittery party hats.

 For each hat, cut out a 3 inch circle, a 5 inch circle, and a length of glitter paper measuring 3.5″x 10″.

Roll the long paper up.  This will help shape it into a hat.

Hot glue the small circle and the length of paper together, working a little section at a time.  You should end up with a tube closed at one end.

Hot glue the hat top to the larger circle…the base.

Now you are ready to embellish your hat.  You can do feathers, letters, the big 2014, ribbon…whatever you can find.

I wrapped them up with some glitter tulle to get that full top hat effect.  It just looks so fancy!

I can’t wait to see the kids in their party hats.  And Mr. CB.  I can’t wait to see him in his!  Have a great day.

    Hey Anne! LOVE these hats and you make them look so quick and easy to do. I can see these added to a headband too for a quirky off center look. You’ve been featured at Gingerly Made today. http://www.gingerlymade.com/2014/01/show-tell-features.html
