Ok, so I admit it. The Christmas decor is still up. Between travel, getting settled back in, and the stomach flu sweeping through our house, it just hasn’t happened yet. Ah, well. It doesn’t mean I can’t start thinking ahead to Valentine’s Day though, right?
I am all for hearts and cupid and all, but I am not quite ready to throw a bunch of red and pink into my otherwise mostly-neutral living room. So, sticking with those metallics that I love, I threw together this simple tissue heart garland.
I used one sheet each of gold, silver, and white tissue paper. Any color tissue paper could work, really. So before you stash away all of your wrapping supplies, pick out some of your favorites! The rest: spray adhesive, your scissors, and some thread.
Layer each sheet on top of the other. Fold in half, then in half again, then in half again. You may want to secure the stack with a binder clip while you cut.
Cut out our hearts. Do as many as you would like. I did mine freehand. I actually like the mismatched look. I ended up with a bunch of extras too. I will do something with them, I am sure…
Spray some adhesive on one of the hearts. I used a skewer to hold the heart in place so I didn’t get adhesive on my hands (it is a total pain to clean off). Place string over the sprayed heart and top with another tissue paper heart. Continue, working 4 to 5 at a time, until you get the length you want.
Just a touch of Valentine’s Day whimsy. Love.
