mini heart piñatas

January 14, 2014

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner!  Today I am sharing a fun little twist on the piñata that can be made pretty quick, filled with some tiny treats, and given to your sweetheart.  I made some of these for my babies for Valentine’s Day.  They are so easy to make, and can be done with things you may already have on hand, they could easily be made in larger quantities.

I love the surprise factor.  Who knows what you’ll get!  I filled mine with M&Ms, which are probably my kids’ most favorite treat.  I can’t wait to see the excitement when they break these open and find what’s inside!

You’ll need:

tissue paper, cut into strips
cardboard tubes
Mod Podge
a brush for applying Mod Podge

First, cut your tube in half.  Make your heart by pressing the cardboard tube together, pressing the top fold down into the middle, then shaping the tube into your heart.

Poke a hole through the tube to feed your twine through, and tie a knot.

Start slathering your heart with Mod Podge, and covering with tissue paper.  Work sections at a time, and be sure to leave a small opening in one end.

Allow your hearts to dry a bit.

Add your candies.

Seal off the hole with a bit of tissue paper.

Aren’t’ they so cute and festive?  Perfect for little hands…enjoy!
