heart-shaped, duct-taped placemats

Hello, my name is Anne and I am a craft supply hoarder.  Nice to meet you.  I have been hoarding craft supplies for many years now, knowing that someday…someday…those craft supplies will come in handy.

I got this fab red and white chevron duct tape from Target a couple of years ago.  Oh, you got some too!?!?!  Well, mine has been sitting among my other tapes since then, untouched, until now.  I used some of it up for some custom, Valentine’s Day, heart-shaped placemats for our Valentine’s Day breakfast.  (I knew I bought a bunch and have been ‘keeping’ them for a good reason!)

I love that these can be made for any occasion.  Just chose your duct tape and your placemat shape!

You’ll need:

  • patterned duct tape
  • a roll of kraft paper

Cover a length of paper with your duct tape, working in a line.  Repeat, row after row, lining up your patterns, until your desired size is reached.  I measured a placemat I already had, which was 19×14.  I used this size paper for my heart template too.

Once you have reached your desired size, trace your heart shape onto the soon-to-be placemat.  Cut.

Add a little handwritten love on the side if you wish.

Isn’t that special?  I love special.Signature_zpsbf29e5311
