fiesta gift wrap

April 25, 2014

Amigos!  Thanks for sticking with me while I get through this little scheduling bump in the road here at Circus Berry.  If you checked out my post here on Monday, you would see that I am changing things up a little bit.  Well, I didn’t quite intend to have such a scheduling hiccup, but this week has been full of one curve ball, obligation, or setback after another.  Here I am though, sharing a fun and festive gift wrap idea that fits nicely into the upcoming Cinco de Mayo holiday.

It goes a little something like this…I had some friends over for a little fiesta last week (sharing details soon, can’t wait!), and had some left over decor.  Of course I couldn’t just ditch it…finding new uses for things is sort of an obsession.  So, I wrapped up a gift with it, making a super fun fiesta gift wrap!

Basically, you cut strips of tissue paper and fringe both sides.  Tape the paper together at the ends.  Once your gift is wrapped in paper, just add your fringed, fiesta trim.  Finish with a bit of bakers’ twine.  You are done!

Go ahead…Ooooooh.  Aaaahhh.  I actually like rubbing my hand on the fringe.  Tactile issues…

Stay tuned for more fun fiesta ideas this week!

easter party inspiration

April 6, 2014

Easter is only a couple of weeks away but that doesn’t mean you can’t throw together a fun little soiree with the kiddies in a pinch to celebrate the day.  Maybe it’s an Easter Egg Hunt, maybe it’s an Easter Brunch, or maybe it’s just an afternoon playdate with some snacks.  I personally would take any of those as a fun excuse to party!  Whatever your pleasure is, check out some of these ideas to get the creativity flowing.

Here I have highlighted some of my favorite details, but I encourage you to check out the full event for some fabulous inspiration.

easter grass runner

Bring the egg hunt theme to the table by bringing in the grass.  In this party, you can find Spring grass incorporated into the centerpieces, table runner, and favors.  So fresh! (via Kara’s Party Ideas)

pastel easter

I love the use of egg cartons and holders to display the treats in this pastel party. (via Amy Atlas)

How about the food!  Carrot juice, carrot cake…

easter party foods

…not to mention some sweet little ‘bird’s nest’ treats filled with candy eggs. (via Amy’s Party Ideas)

easter drinks

These darling little strawberry milk drinks would fit perfectly with the pastels. (via Project Nursery)

egg cake pops

I love the treats in this Mod Easter Party.  The cookies are a work of art and I am sort of obsessed with the way the cake pops are made to look like Easter Eggs! (via Hostess with the Mostess)

Now, decorating your table can be as carefree or elaborate as you’d like…

If you don’t have matching decor or serverware, no fear!  This Shabby Chic Easter Party has all of the colors and style of Easter and Springtime, all together in one awesome display. (via Double the Fun Parties)

peter rabbit

I am a fan of books and book-themed parties.  Peter Rabbit would be a perfect match for the season. (via Hello Naomi)

jewel tone and metallic easter party

Bold jewel tones and metallics make quite a statement.  This party has “I didn’t hold back” written all over it. (via Hostess with the Mostess)

pastel easter celebration

Pastels are traditional and beautiful when displayed up against a solid white background like  in this sweet celebration. (via Pizzazzerie)

ribbon backdrop

Speaking of backgrounds!  This curly ribbon background is amazing!  What an impact a bunch of ribbon can have! (via A to Zebra Celebrations)

sparkle backdrop

How about a solid white backdrop.  This one is just as easy, just as frugal, and just as “WOW”! (via Kojo Designs)

bunny bunting

Whatever your dessert, consider a fun topper that fits your theme–like this bunny bunting.  So stinkin’ sweet! (via The Path Less Traveled on Etsy)

treat bags

Don’t forget to send some goodies home.  Whether it is chocolate eggs, some jelly beans, or a little toy, a little bag stenciled with a bunny would be perfect…and easy! (via Four R Designs on Etsy)

soup’s on {ideas for hosting your own soup party}

February 16, 2014

The weather outside is still frightful and I am finding myself itching for some celebration…some food, some friends, and warmth.  In the middle of winter, what better way to achieve those things than with a soup party.

Today I am sharing some ideas and links for you to check out to put your own soup party together.

soup party decor

Get clever with your decor and don’t forget to include recipe cards for your soups! Check out Babs’s Babble for lots of great soup party ideas, including homemade placemats and a soup trophy.

soup bar

Round up the crockpots and set up a soup bar (via Hunters of Happiness)…

soup party display

…Or serve your soups right off the stove on slate board (via Birchbox Blog).

soup swap

Visit Hoosier Homemade for ideas for not only a soup party, but a soup swap.  I love that her accompaniments and decor are all so inexpensive and doable on a budget!

bread display

Bread goes with soup like peanut butter goes with jelly.  You can give lots of options and be as elaborate or simple in your display as you would like (via Style Me Pretty).

beer bucket

Serve up some craft brews to compliment your soup selection like the ladies at Little Yellow Couch did.

chalkboard banner diy

Keep your decor simple, warm, and a little rustic.  This Chalkboard Banner DIY from SNAP! would be perfect and I love that it is totally customizable to your message.  “Welcome”, “Soup’s On”, “Stay Warm”, “Eat Up”, and “Enjoy” would all be great greetings.

five bean soup

Send your guests home with some soup mix.  This Five Bean Soup from Back to Her Roots is an easy one to assemble and package, not to mention how inexpensive dried beans are.

Painted Soup Cans

Use painted tin cans as utensil holders, centerpieces, and anything in between.  How frugal is that? (via For the Love)

soup containerssoup spoons

Get creative with your containers and utensils.  These soup containers and spoons from Garnish are just perfect for a soup party.

host a soup party

Check out The Kitchn for some other tips for putting together the menu for your soup party, including the dessert!

Are you inspired yet?  I know I am already talking to my husband about hosting a soup party after putting this post together.  (Pretty please, Mr. CB?)  Enjoy!
